Random Thoughts

Here is something I had written to post on June 26, 2006. I did not get the chance because I had difficulty accessing this site. For several days, I lost the desire to blog because the site did not seem to be available when I wanted to post.
Seems I was already thinking about my struggles embracing constructivism…
From June 26, 2006 – I am slow to process information…I have not used the wiki, yet (maybe I am…afraid???)…
Pat made a comment in the class blog about getting out of the way…she repeated that sentiment to us about teachers getting out of the way of the learner…some of us are so entrenched in our belief that we must steer our students toward learning…contructivism leaves too much in the students hands and we may not “cover” everything we are “supposed to cover.” The fear exists that we may be called on the carpet…our carefully cultured reputations may be sullied….worst…our jobs may be at stake if we do not follow the tired (but NOT true) methods we have been using. We’ll complain that these students are difficult to motivate…they don’t want to learn, blah, blah, blah….
