Happy Blog-i-versary

June 11, 2007 | |

This has been a wonderful year for me in using Web 2.0 tools. I am still way behind using many of the tools and terms other bloggers use: Second Life, Twitter, Meebo, meme, and presentation 2.0 are just the tip of the proverbial iceberg .

But why am I complaining?

I set up and hosted a blog for my students where we shared ideas among ourselves and with others in the blogosphere. I learned how to embed pictures, documents, slideshows and videos into my blog posts. I have added the plug-in for Snap to my class website. When users mouse over various links on our blog, they can preview websites before visiting those  pages.

One of the coolest experiences I had this year occured when two visitors left comments on these blogs. The first visitor was James Brush, a teacher and author from Texas. The other contributor, Vicki Davis of Cool Cat Teacher, visited this blog and my class blog, and my video hosted on YouTube. She even posted my YouTube video on one of her blogs. Wow!

Now, I get a chance to share my struggles and triumphs concerning the use of Web 2.0 tools in the classroom with other teachers. I have been invited by my mentor, Pat Sine, to talk about my experiences with students who are taking her class, K-12 Technology Integration

This is only the beginning.
