Tech adventures: Installing a wiki
July 1, 2007 | | Leave a Comment
Lunarpages is the host for my class blog. I chose Lunarpages because the company offered to host our K-12 public school site for free. I also chose this host because they supported Wordpress. It took me a month to figure out how to set up the site. Now I want to add a wiki to the site. The hosting package included wiki software for the site, but my colleague, Carol O’Hara, and I would like to use MediaWiki. Here I go with the steep learning curve again.
I am used to installing software on my home computer. Stick in a disc or download a file and click on the setup icon. Voilà! Installed software.
Installing this wiki is going to be a bit more complicated.
My host has graciously moved my website to another server because of compatibility issues that had to be resolved in order to run the wiki software. Of course, now I cannot see the website. I have to resolve this issue by tweaking a file in the site.
I will occasionally post about my challenges and let readers know the outcome.
Stay tuned.
